About
Make a tuning you can hear, edit and hand off. Cenvale is a local microtonal scale workbench for musicians who work in ratios and cents. Select a degree on the pitch circle, hear its sine tone, inspect intervals and compare your scale with equal divisions of the same period. AUTHOR YOUR SCALE • Choose an equal-division or just-intonation starting scale, or import a Scala .scl file from Files. • Edit the name, reference frequency, notes and pitch list. Mix positive ratios such as 9/8 with decimal cents such as 100.0. • Keep up to 30 editable tunings on your device. Reopen, duplicate, favorite or delete them. • Explore non-octave periods as well as octave scales. LISTEN AND INSPECT • Select linked degrees on the diagram and table. • Hear individual sine tones, ascending intervals or an entire scale sequence. • Read the frequency, cents and ratio for the selected degree. • See deviation from equal division with the same tone count and repeating period. • On iPad, use a degree rail in portrait and a three-pane workbench with playable degree keys in landscape. EXPORT A MATCHING PACKAGE • Scala .scl preserves your ratio and cents tokens. • CSV contains every degree, frequency and equal-division deviation, including the period endpoint. • A paginated PDF provides a printable tuning reference. • A 44.1 kHz, 16-bit mono WAV plays the same frequencies in ascending order. • Share the ZIP package or individual output files through the system share sheet. Preview the PDF inside Cenvale. SUPPORTED SCALES Cenvale supports 2–72 positive, strictly ascending pitches including the final repeating period. The tonic is implicit. Periods must be 20–4,800 cents. Reference frequency is 20–1,000 Hz, with the period endpoint at most 16,000 Hz. Import UTF-8 or Latin-1 Scala files up to 64 KB. Unordered and non-positive scales are not supported. Integer pitch tokens mean ratios; use a decimal point for cents. Scala is a scale exchange format, not a keyboard mapping. The receiving software must support SCL; set its keyboard mapping and reference separately. Cenvale does not provide KBM, MIDI, MPE, AUv3, external synth control, a microphone tuner or performance recording. Sine previews play in the foreground. Reduce device volume before listening; output is not a calibrated loudness source. One purchase. No subscription, in-app purchase, account, ads or analytics. Tunings and exports stay on this device until you choose to share them. System backups follow your device settings.Read more
