About

Ballpark: calories, roughly; weight, precisely. A scale, made useful. Your weight moves a kilogram or more in a day on water alone. Ballpark uses math wizardry to show you the line underneath, allowing you to see the scale's true movement. It also logs food, deliberately roughly, and instead lets the change of weight do the talking. For each meal you tick a portion — small, medium or large — or none, if you skipped it. Snacks add up rather than replacing each other. That is the whole input. No incomplete barcode scanner, no elaborate food database, no photograph analysed by a model that returns "642 kcal" as though it had measured something. Tell the app once what a medium breakfast is worth to you, and every portion prices itself from that. The app is smart, and a meal you skipped and a meal you forgot are not processed the same. You are in control. Then your weight trend tells you what you burn. Not guesstimates from your age and height, but from what you logged against what the scale actually did. The figure appears on day one, becomes provisional as complete days accumulate, and is marked measured once your own data measures the trendline robustly — with all its uncertainty accounted for at every stage. The app grows with you. A one-sentence summary, at the top. Not five statistics and no verdict. "Down 0.4 kg over the last month." Set a goal weight and it says how far there is to go, and how long your own measured rate would take to get there — never a rate it has invented for you. • Trend weight from a Kalman filter with a backward smoothing pass • Pinch to zoom from a week to your whole history; tap any day to read it • Reads weight from Apple Health automatically, and can save the weights you enter to it • Three meals, or up to six, with portions calibrated to your own plate • Maintenance calories from your own logging, with the ± beside them • An optional goal weight, with no pace unless you ask for one • Thirteen widgets, including a Lock Screen button that adds a hundred calories and a home-screen weigh-in that records without opening the app • Four Control Centre buttons, and Siri: "log my weight" • Export everything as CSV, any time • No account, no analytics, no privacy concerns. Syncs across your devices through your own iCloud • In ten languages Every number the app shows, every meal and every widget is free. If Ballpark is useful to you, you can support it with a one-time purchase at whichever of three prices suits you; as a thank-you, it unlocks extra colour schemes and app icons. All features remain free, forever. Nothing here is medical advice, and no number in the app is a diagnosis. The reasoning, and the papers behind it, are in the app under Settings › The method — including where the evidence undercuts the app's own arithmetic.Read more
