About

Dash is a wall of boxes for the things you do a little of, often. It was built for exercise snacking — ten press-ups every hour instead of an hour in the gym. A row of boxes, one per hour, a tap in each. It turned out to be a good way to keep at almost anything: water, screen breaks, physio, pills, five a day, and whether anyone has actually fed the cat. ONE BOX, ONE TAP • A grid is a row of boxes: one per hour, as many as you like, or a fixed set. • A box is a tick, or an amount — ml, grams, minutes, reps, kcal. • Every option has a size, so one tap logs the number. A pint is 568 ml; a run is 20 minutes. Hold a box to log the usual thing without asking. • An option can stand for several — your usual breakfast, a circuit — and one tap logs the lot. • Starter grids for movement, cardio, mobility, breaks, physio, liquids, meds, fruit & veg, calories and pets. Rename and reshape any of them. GOALS AND STREAKS • A floor, a ceiling, or a range. Past the ceiling is not met. • Different goals on different days of the week. • Streaks, a seven-day strip beside every grid, and a four-week heatmap. • A pat on the back when the goal lands, or confetti if you'd rather. NAGS THAT KNOW WHEN TO STOP • Nothing logged for a while, short and getting late, or a fixed time. • A tone, a notification, and a box that pulses faster as the hour runs out. • Log straight from the notification — your most-used options are the buttons. • Quiet the moment the goal is met. POCKET, STAND, DESK AND WRIST • iPhone: about six hours at a time, big enough to hit. • iPad: the whole day on a stand. Dims, then sleeps to a black face that won't burn in. • Mac: a real Mac app with a sidebar, history you can edit, and a menu bar item. • Apple Watch: one screen, tap to log, complications for the Smart Stack. Shows your iPhone's grids, free or paid. • Widgets. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS • 100% local by default. No sign-up, no analytics, no ads. Sync and sharing use the iCloud account already on your device — never one of ours. • On the free version nothing leaves the device at all. Unlocked, your grids travel between your own devices through your own iCloud: a grid you make goes there as you create it, and any grid can be kept to one device from its own pane. Only your Apple ID — nobody else can read it, not even us. • Share a grid with other people as a link — view only, or view and log. They see that grid and nothing else of yours. Joining one is free — on the free version it counts as one of their two grids. • A shared "Cat — fed" grid, two boxes a day, each saying who filled it. Settles the argument. The cat is not a participant. • Export any grid, or everything, as a spreadsheet or a Dash file. Dash files import back in — on this device or another — and merge rather than overwrite. FREE, THEN ONCE Two grids on each device, every feature, for as long as you like — separate on each device. One payment unlocks unlimited grids, your grids kept in step across your devices and Watch, and sharing with other people. No subscription. Requires iOS 17, macOS 14 or watchOS 10.Read more
