About

The light you want is over in twenty minutes. Goldhour tells you when it starts, before it starts — on your Lock Screen, without opening the app. THE COUNTDOWN LIVES ON THE LOCK SCREEN Start it once and the next golden hour, sunrise or sunset counts down as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show the next light at a glance. AN ALERT BEFORE THE LIGHT Sunrise and sunset alerts are free. Choose how many minutes ahead you want to know. Golden hour and blue hour alerts come with Pro. ANY PLACE, NO LOCATION PERMISSION NEEDED Search a city and Goldhour computes its light on your phone — nothing is looked up online. Use your location if you like, or don't. THE WHOLE DAY, THE WHOLE FORTNIGHT First light, blue hour, golden hour, sunrise, solar noon, golden hour, sunset, blue hour, last light — with day length, and a 14-day table for planning a shoot or a trip. WILL TONIGHT BE WORTH THE WALK? Pro estimates tonight's sunset from Apple Weather cloud cover: high cloud carries the colour, low cloud hides it. It is an estimate, and the app says so. FREE, AND WHAT COSTS MONEY Today's light, one saved place, sunrise and sunset alerts and a Home Screen widget are free. Pro is one payment — no subscription, ever: the Lock Screen countdown, Lock Screen widgets, unlimited places, golden and blue hour alerts, the sunset forecast and the 14-day table. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE Times come from the NOAA solar algorithm, accurate to about a minute, computed on the device. There is no account and no server. The only network request is the weather lookup to Apple, for Pro's forecast.
