About

Same island, different weather. It can be pouring in Bishan and dry in Bedok. Most weather apps give you one number for the whole country and hope it is close enough. Weather Kaki does not do averages. It reads the conditions near you, names the area that reading came from, and puts the lot on one screen you can take in at a glance. WHAT YOU GET • The temperature now, how it feels, and today's high and low • What is coming later, in plain words, so you know whether to wait it out • Humidity and UV • Air quality for your area, with the past 24 hours drawn as a chart, so you can see whether it is clearing or closing in • A four-day outlook YOUR CORNER OF THE ISLAND Every number on the screen is measured near you, and the area is named at the top, so you always know which part of Singapore you are reading about. Nothing to set up. Open the app somewhere else and it follows. If it is not sure where you are, it says so plainly, rather than quietly guessing. TWO WAYS TO READ THE AIR NEA's PM2.5 and PSI, or the US AQI scale. Whichever one you are used to reading is a tap away. PM2.5 covers the last hour, so it answers what to do right now. PSI covers twenty-four, so it answers what to plan for tomorrow. Two different questions, kept apart. ON YOUR HOME SCREEN Two widgets, one for the weather and one for the air. Both read your own area, and both refresh on their own rather than waiting for you to open the app. A SCREEN THAT FOLLOWS THE SKY Dawn, morning, afternoon, evening and night. The colours shift with Singapore's own twilight times, so what is on screen matches what is out of the window. EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED Every reading is free, on a hazy week as much as any other. One small advertisement, and a single purchase removes it. PRIVACY No account. Nothing to sign up for. The ads are not personalised, and the app does not ask to track you across other apps. Your location is used to work out which part of Singapore to show you. Decline it and the app still works as it defaults to Central Singapore. Readings come from the National Environment Agency through data.gov.sg, and from the World Air Quality Index.Read more
