About
Pavement Paws tells you when to walk your dog on a hot day, before you step outside. On a sunny afternoon, asphalt can run 25 degrees hotter than the air. Pavement Paws takes your local forecast for temperature, sunshine and wind, and estimates how hot the ground gets in full sun, hour by hour, for asphalt, concrete, artificial turf and grass. Then it turns that into a plan: "Walkies before 10:40 or after 18:20." A colour band and a chart show the whole day, how long the ground stays too hot for paws, and why the pavement is still warm in the evening after the air has cooled. Prefer no chart? Switch to a simple list of times. Happy paws, Quick sniff only or Paws off!: three levels based on the temperatures at which paw pads burn, with a dog on screen whose mood tells you at a glance. Give it your dog's name and the app talks about them. Switch on a morning heads-up and Pavement Paws tells you on hot days only, early enough to walk before the heat. An evening heads-up tells you when the ground cools down. Home screen and Lock Screen widgets keep the answer a glance away. Pavement Paws gives an estimate for pavement in full sun, not a measurement. Shade stays closer to the air temperature. When in doubt, use the 7-second paw test: if you cannot hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds, it is too hot for paws. Available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Greek, in °C or °F. No account, no advertising and no tracking.Read more
