Roastweft: Coffee Profiles

Roastweft is the notebook that sits next to your roaster. Tap Charge and the clock starts. Mark the turning point when the beans stop falling, mark first crack when you hear the first pops, and drop when the colour is right. Every 30 seconds it nudges you for a bean temperature, and each reading lands on the profile curve as you go, with rate of rise drawn alongside so you can watch the climb ease off before crack. The development window is shaded on the chart with its share of the roast printed right there, so you know whether you gave the sweetness time to arrive or pulled it early for brightness. When you drop, name the roast, pick the green lot it came from and weigh what came out of the drum. Roastweft takes the charge off your shelf, works out weight loss, splits the roast into drying, Maillard and development, and keeps the whole timeline with the curve, so you can go back and compare a Sunday filter roast with the espresso batch you pushed a little further. It also looks for a rate-of-rise crash after first crack and tells you if the curve flicked back up. Your greens live on their own shelf. Each lot carries its origin, process, variety, moisture and density, plus a ledger of every movement in and out: arrivals, sample pulls, roasts and the odd correction, with a running balance beside each line. Set a low-stock line for each lot and a badge appears when a bag is getting thin. Then cup it. The cupping sheet follows the familiar SCA layout: fragrance, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance and overall on quarter-point sliders, five cups each for uniformity, clean cup and sweetness, taints and faults taken off the bottom. The final score updates as you slide, and the sheet stays attached to the roast that earned it, so a lot's average score sits right beside its stock. Everything you log is written to a single file kept with the app, and it opens ready to explore, with three finished roasts, their lots and their cupping sheets already in place for you to poke at before your first charge.
