About
Ieta is a phrasebook for the sentences you couldn't say today - so you can say them next time. Made for anyone whose diary in a new language didn't last. No data collected. Your sentences and your voice never leave your device (only if you turn on iCloud sync are your sentences also kept in your own iCloud). A one-time purchase, not a subscription. The thing you wanted to say, and couldn't find the words for. Not someone else's example sentence - just that one sentence of yours, until you can say it. [Add a sentence] Write the sentence you couldn't say, in your own language. Apple's translation turns it into a sentence to say right away. Translations are by Apple, so there may be a better way to say it - you can edit the sentence to say yourself. Can't translate on the train? Tap "Translate Later" and keep just your own sentence for now. [Say it out loud] Hear the sentence, then say it out loud. On-device speech recognition lines up what was heard with the sentence to say, and underlines what came out differently. No scores, nothing graded. It lines up words - it doesn't judge your pronunciation. When everything lines up, the "Said it" stamp lands. When something came out differently, you decide whether to count it as said. "Say It Out Loud" (speech recognition) needs iOS 26 or later. On iOS 18 to 25, hearing the sentence, opening it and stamping it yourself all work the same. [It comes back] Your sentences come back to Look Back after 1, 3, 7 and 30 days - showing only your own language. Recall it, say it, open the sentence, and choose "Said it" or "See You Tomorrow" yourself. If it doesn't come to you today, it simply comes back. [Phrasebook] Every sentence you add lines up by month. Search in either language. Each month shows how many sentences you can say now. [Widget] Put "Today's Sentence" on your Home Screen. In the "Came Back" widget and the medium widget (Ieta Premium), sentences that came back show only your own language, with the sentence to say kept hidden. [A quiet tool] No notifications. No streaks, no goals, no badges. One sentence a day is plenty. [Languages] Choose your language and the language you're learning from English, Spanish, French, German, Korean and Japanese. The first time you translate or say a sentence in a language, its data is downloaded through Apple's system. After that, it works without a connection. [Pricing] On the free plan you can add 3 sentences a day, and each sentence comes back for 30 days after you add it. Every sentence is kept even for free, and you can always see all of them in the Phrasebook. Editing, deleting, exporting (text / JSON) and importing stay free. A one-time Ieta Premium purchase brings back sentences past 30 days too, raises the limit to 50 sentences a day, and opens the "Came Back" widget, the medium widget and iCloud sync. There is no subscription. [Privacy] No account, no developer server, no ads, and no location tracking. Translation and speech recognition run on your device. Your voice is only heard and lined up on the spot - nothing is recorded. The microphone is used only when you tap "Say It Out Loud." Your sentences live on this device. Only when you turn on iCloud sync are they also kept in the private part of your own iCloud account, where the developer cannot reach them.
