About

Interface language: Chinese (Simplified or Traditional, following the device's Chinese language setting). The words your child learns are English. Made for kids aged 9 to 11 in Chinese-speaking families who are learning English at primary school. The word list follows the 10 units of the Shanghai primary-school English textbook, Grade 4, first term (new edition): the 146 words and short phrases the textbook marks as must-know, plus 72 supporting words that only need to be recognised. Spell Squad turns vocabulary practice into an auto-battler. To buy a card or put it on the board, your child answers a question about the word on that card. Get it right and the word becomes a little fighter that battles on its own. EVERY MOVE PRACTISES THAT WORD • The question is always about the card's own word: pick the word for the picture, pick the picture for the sound, then spell it with letter tiles. • Phrase cards are built by putting word tiles in order. • A wrong answer costs no game points: check the hint and try again. SEE WHAT HAS BEEN LEARNED • For must-know fighter words, answering the hardest question unaided counts as learned: the fighter awakens on the spot. For the rest of that match, placing or merging it needs no question; buying still does. • Must-know fighter words that still need learning, or are due for review, wear a rainbow border. It disappears once learned and comes back when review is due. • Each unit has a page listing its required words and which ones are learned. TWO WAYS TO PLAY • Unit mode: pick the unit the class is on; that unit's words show up more often, especially the unlearned ones. • Free mode: words from the whole book; learned words come back when they are due for review. BUILD THE SQUAD • Buy cards, place them, and collect three of the same card to merge them; then the fighters battle automatically. • Related words placed together get stronger, for example football on the sports field. • Opponents are computer-controlled. Single player. FOR PARENTS • No ads, no in-app purchases, no account. • All content is inside the app and works offline; progress stays on the device. • Landscape only. This is an independently developed practice game. It does not copy textbook passages, illustrations or characters, and is not affiliated with the textbook's authors or publisher.Read more
