About

Hattie rings your mum or dad every day on their normal phone, landline or mobile, for a five-minute chat. Afterwards you get a short note in the app about how they are. If they mention something worrying, like a fall or feeling unwell, the people in your family who've chosen to get alerts are told. Your parent doesn't need an app, a smartphone or anything new. Hattie is a friendly automated caller. She's a computer, and she tells them so. HOW IT WORKS • You set it up in the app: your parent's name, their number, a good time to call and a few things they like talking about. • Talk to your parent first, then book a consent call. Hattie explains what the calls are and asks whether they're happy to go ahead. Nothing starts unless they say yes themselves. If they say no, or can't be reached, we delete their number and details. • Hattie rings at the same time every day and chats about how they slept, what they've got on, the garden, the cricket, whatever they like. If there's no answer she tries again twice. • After each call you get a short summary, the topics, and which of your notes came up. • If they don't answer, or mention something worrying, the family members who get alerts are told, by notification, text, email or phone call. You choose who is told first. WHAT YOU SEE, AND WHAT YOU DON'T You see a summary of each call, not a transcript, and daily calls aren't recorded. If Hattie raises a concern, you see the sentence that caused it, so you can judge it yourself. Leave notes for Hattie to bring up, like "Sarah's driving you to the hospital on Thursday." She always says who a note is from, and never passes on instructions or pressure. YOUR PARENT IS IN CHARGE They can tell Hattie to take a break or stop for good on any call, and she stops straight away. The family can't restart the calls after that. It would take a new consent call that your parent agrees to. WHAT IT ISN'T Hattie Calls is not an emergency service. Nobody watches the alerts. If no one in your family acts on an alert, nothing else happens. In an emergency, ring 999. It isn't a medical service. Hattie doesn't diagnose anything or give medical advice. It isn't a personal alarm or telecare. It can't tell if someone has fallen when they don't mention it. It doesn't replace your own calls and visits. WHO IT'S FOR Families in the UK. Calls go to UK phone numbers only. You need to be 18 or over, with an iPhone. Your parent has to understand the calls and agree to them on the consent call. We can't set it up for someone who can't agree for themselves. PRICE One subscription covers one parent and everyone in the family. Brothers and sisters join with an invite at no extra cost. • Monthly: £14.99 a month • Annual: £129.99 a year Both start with a 7-day free trial. Prices include VAT. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the free trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then. The subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel it in Settings, under your Apple Account, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
