About
Lie on the ground by a campfire and look up. The stars above you are the real ones, for where you are and the minute it is. The fire is at your feet. Look down and it fills the view: flames, glowing logs, a ring of stones. Look up and its sparks drift into the sky, and the heat above the flames makes the stars over it shimmer. Past the fire, the Milky Way, the Magellanic Clouds, the moon in its actual phase, the five naked-eye planets and the meteor showers are all where and when they really are. 2,851 stars, down to magnitude 5.5. The land is real too. The hills and ranges on the horizon are worked out from open elevation data for about 130 km around, with the curve of the earth, so the moon comes up over the actual ridge. Tap the skyline and it tells you how far away it is and how high. The sound is made as you listen: the low lapping of the flames, crackle, hiss and snaps, a log settling, wind in the gums, crickets and a boobook owl somewhere off in the dark. Nothing here is a recording. The flames, sparks, smoke, gum trees and every sound are generated on your device as it runs, and it works offline. WHAT YOU CAN DO Start with Sleep tonight (eight hours, fades out), Stargaze (three hours with the sky guide) or Just watch (no timer) Three modes: Sleep, Stargaze and Fireside Tap a star, a planet, the moon, the fire or the skyline to find out what it is Constellation lines and names when you want them The real sky in Brisbane or from where you are, now or tonight A sleep timer with a slow fade at the end Keeps going with the screen locked, with play and pause on the lock screen Text up to twice the size, Reduce Motion, higher contrast and VoiceOver labels No account, no ads, no tracking Made for falling asleep, stargazing and sitting by the fire. Made in Brisbane. PRO Pro adds nineteen more places under their own skies, any night you choose, the open plain, a fire that burns down through the night, light pollution and moon settings, more meteors, the sound mixer, saved setups, stills and the sky numbers. It is a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription (A$2.99 a month or A$19.99 a year in Australia; prices differ by country), or a one-off lifetime unlock (A$39.99). Subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings.
