Augenschein: Handover Report

In a dispute, a photograph shows a scratch. It does not show how large it was, where exactly, whether it was this flat, or whether anyone has altered the image since. That is precisely the gap Augenschein closes. SEAL, DON'T JUST PHOTOGRAPH Every shot immediately gets a checksum over the original file. On sealing, all checksums and all details are gathered into a seal document in a fixed order. Anyone who later alters an image, a recording or a detail is caught by the verification, file name and all. The seal document appears in plain text in the report. Anyone can recompute the overall checksum with any SHA-256 tool, without owning this app. EVERY SHOT CARRIES ITS CIRCUMSTANCES Time, location with accuracy radius, bearing and area. The accuracy radius is always shown, never hidden: indoors, twenty metres is normal, and an honest imprecision is more credible than a coordinate that feigns precision. If the location is missing, it says so. A last known position is never substituted. SPEAK INSTEAD OF TYPE Nobody types on a building site. One button beside the shutter, speak the note, done. Recognition runs on the device only. The text stays correctable, and the recording is kept and verified along with everything else. CHECKLISTS SO NOTHING IS MISSED Templates for handover, damage and construction set out which areas to walk and what to look at in each. Every item gets a finding and its images. Whatever stays open appears as open in the report. THE REPORT IS THE PRODUCT A PDF with cover page, location overview, checklist, every shot with its details, both parties' signatures, and the seal document in the appendix. Produced entirely on the device. Signed with a finger, before sealing. ARCHIVE, DON'T LOCK IN A case exports in full: one file with the original shots, all details, the seal document and instructions for recomputing it. It reads back in here and opens on any computer. NO ACCOUNT, NO CLOUD There is no sign-up and no synchronisation. Everything stays on the device. The only outbound connection is for the timestamp on sealing and for billing through the App Store. WHAT THE PROCEDURE STANDS FOR It shows that nothing has changed since sealing. It does not show that the photograph depicts what it purports to depict — someone could photograph a screen. That sentence appears in the app and in every report. WHO IT IS FOR Property managers, loss adjusters, site supervisors and trades dealing with warranty questions. SUBSCRIPTION Without a subscription, three cases can be sealed, with everything that belongs to them. After that, the annual subscription carries an allowance of fifty cases. Photographing is never blocked, and sealed cases stay accessible: view, verify, produce the report, export. Without a subscription too, and after it ends. The annual subscription renews automatically for another year unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.
