About
What will college really cost your family, and will the degree pay off? MajorWorth puts the answer on one screen for thousands of U.S. colleges, using official U.S. Department of Education data. Pick your family income range once. Every school then shows the typical price families like yours paid after grants and scholarships, not just the sticker price. Open a major to see what graduates earn and how many months of pay it takes to cover the cost. WHAT YOU GET • Search 5,400+ U.S. colleges and career schools by name, nickname or city; filter by state, public or private, and 2-year or 4-year • Find schools by major: pick nursing, computer science, business or any other major and see the schools in your state that offer it, ranked by graduates' earnings, typical cost at your income, or fastest payoff • Typical cost at your income: the average net price for your family income range, next to the sticker price • Out-of-state tuition discounts: for schools in the WUE, Midwest (MSEP), Academic Common Market and New England Tuition Break exchanges, see whether students from your state may pay less, and an estimate where the rules allow one • A button to each school's net price calculator and to its application or admissions page (or Cal State Apply, the UC application, CCCApply, ApplyTexas, SUNY, CUNY) • Outcomes: graduation rate, typical federal loan debt and monthly payment, and earnings compared with the U.S. median for high-school graduates • Majors ranked by what graduates earn 4 years after finishing, with typical debt for each • Major payoff: total cost at your income, debt, monthly payment, earnings and months of pay to cover the cost, next to the national median • Free money: your family's estimated Federal Pell Grant, a Start your FAFSA button and the deadlines • Deadline reminders: turn on reminders for the FAFSA and your state's grant deadlines, 14 days and 2 days ahead. They're set on your iPhone; nothing is sent anywhere • Compare schools and majors side by side, and save them to come back to MAJORWORTH PRO (one-time purchase, no subscription) • Every major at every school, with payoff for each (free shows each school's top 3) • Every school for a major, in any state (free shows the top 3) • Your state's grants: which programs your family may qualify for, award amounts, deadlines and where to apply; browse every state • Compare up to 5 (free compares 2) and save as many as you like (free saves 3) • Export your saved comparisons to CSV • No ads HOW THE NUMBERS WORK These are averages, not your price. Net price is the average cost after grants and scholarships for first-time, full-time students who got federal aid in 2023-24; public schools show the in-state price. Use the school's net price calculator for your own estimate. Earnings are medians for graduates who received federal aid, 4 years after finishing (finished 2017-19, in 2024 dollars). Debt counts federal student loans only. Monthly payments use the 10-year standard plan at the 2026-27 federal undergraduate rate. The Pell estimate uses the published FAFSA rules and federal poverty guidelines; your FAFSA decides the real award. State grants and tuition exchanges were researched from each official program, with a link to the source. Exchange discounts are never guaranteed: seats are limited. ABOUT THE DATA School costs, earnings, debt and graduation rates come from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard (collegescorecard.ed.gov), public domain data. MajorWorth checks for new data automatically. MajorWorth is an independent app, not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, any state agency, exchange program or college. It is not financial advice. PRIVACY Your income range, household, home state, reminders and saved schools stay on your device. There is no account. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob; you choose whether to allow tracking. Pro removes ads entirely.Read more
