Humans Of History

Every night, one remarkable life. Humans Of History is the reading room of humansofhistory.com: an archive of documented lives from every era and every corner of the world, told by the Keeper in a calm voice made for the end of the day. A LIFE FOR EVERY DAY The Archive marks each date with a life bound to it: a birth, a death, a discovery. Below it wait fresh recordings and shelves that run from ancient sovereigns to modern scientists. THE MORNING LETTER Each dawn a letter arrives from someone long gone, written in their own voice and grounded in their record. One morning it is a Renaissance physician on poisons and cures, the next a pharaoh on power. Read it, or have it read to you. THE LISTENING ROOM Choose any life on the shelves and the Keeper records it for you, usually within a few minutes. Recordings you have heard are yours to keep in your Folio. A sleep timer dims the reading; a bookmark holds your place until tomorrow. IN CONVERSATION Light a candle and put your question to anyone on the shelves. The reply comes in their own voice, a dramatisation drawn only from the archive record, never invented. Speak your question aloud and the answer is spoken back. Some figures are not voiced, out of respect, and the Keeper will say so plainly. THE KEEPER'S CIRCLE The Archive comes with free reads and questions to spend. Members of the Keeper's Circle get unlimited listening and unlimited conversations with every life in the archive. RESPECT FOR THE RECORD Articles cite published sources, portraits carry their credits, and revered figures are treated with the care their traditions ask.
