About
Gem Hunt is a treasure hunting game that quietly teaches maths and spelling. Sweep the detector across the sand. Dig where it glows red. Answer a question to keep what you find. There are thirty two gems to collect across ten areas, from a warm shallow cove to the rim of a volcano. Eleven of them are only found in the full game. Questions that follow your child A grown-up picks an age group once, when the digger is created. After that the game moves on its own: three correct answers in a row and it steps up, two wrong and it eases back. Your child is never shown a level number and never told they are behind. Maths and English are mapped to the Australian Curriculum, Foundation to Year 5. First letter sounds and counting to five at one end; area, decimals and figurative language at the other. A wrong answer still keeps the gem There is no punishment loop. Get it wrong, keep the gem anyway, score a little less, and get an easier question next time. Children who are behind do not get buried. No timers anywhere Nothing counts down. Time pressure punishes exactly the children this game is built for. Plays completely offline Aeroplane mode, a long drive, a waiting room with no reception: everything works. All ten areas, every question, the collection and the settings. There is nothing to download after you install it, and the game makes no network requests of any kind. No advertising. No accounts. Nothing collected. There is no ad network in this app and no analytics of any kind. There is no sign-in and no account. Your child's name and scores are saved on the device and never sent anywhere, because there is nowhere to send them. You can export or delete all of it from the Grown-ups area at any time. Built to be readable - A dyslexia friendly font you can switch on - Gems that differ by shape as well as colour, so they can be told apart without relying on colour - Big targets for small fingers - A reduced motion setting Up to four children Each with their own progress, their own collection and their own difficulty. One device, one purchase, the whole family. What it costs Levels 1 to 3 are free. One optional purchase unlocks levels 4 to 10 for everyone on the device. Sweep the detector across the sand. Dig where it glows red. Answer a question to keep what you find. There are thirty two gems to collect across ten areas, from a warm shallow cove to the rim of a volcano. Eleven of them are only found in the full game.
Questions that follow your child
A grown-up picks an age group once, when the digger is created.
