About

Elo hell isn't real. Your blunders are. Elo Hell applies learning science to chess. It analyzes up to your last 1,000 games and keeps an up-to-date mastery model of your strengths and weaknesses. It uses that model to show you what to work on next. Puzzles come from the mistakes in your own games and return on a spaced-repetition schedule. You can also build an opening repertoire, review it with spaced repetition, and see where your games leave it. Learn from a growing library of 140 lessons on openings, endgames and tactics. Every game you import from Chess.com or Lichess gets a full engine review. Master games matched to your play come with annotations and guess-the-move challenges. PRACTICE FROM YOUR OWN GAMES Connect your games to turn missed chances and blunders into personal puzzles. Spaced repetition brings positions back for review, and explanations show why a wrong move fails. KNOW WHAT TO STUDY NEXT A mastery model tracks tactics, openings, and endgames using evidence from your real games and practice. See each skill's estimate, trend, and supporting games. Daily recommendations point you toward the weaknesses worth working on. BUILD YOUR OPENING REPERTOIRE Build lines from your games, the opening catalog, or an imported study. Review with spaced repetition, practice against the engine, and see where your games leave your preparation. OPENING LESSONS Understand the ideas behind the moves. Choose lessons for White or Black, follow explanations on the board, check your understanding with quizzes, and practice the lines. Work through a course at your own pace. ENDGAME LESSONS Learn opposition, pawn endings, rook endings, and more. Step through the technique, find the move in a quiz, then play the position out against the computer. Each lesson ends in a drill that comes back for review on a spaced-repetition schedule. The app and lesson content are currently in English. TACTICS LESSONS 36 lessons in three chapters: checkmate patterns, attacking the king, and tactical motifs such as the fork, the pin and the skewer. Each lesson explains the idea on the board, then asks you to find the move and play positions out. IN-DEPTH GAME REVIEWS Enter a Chess.com or Lichess username, or paste a game link. See your accuracy, the turning point, move classifications, and plain-English explanations. STATISTICS AND MASTER GAMES Explore your results by opening, clock habits, and where winning positions slip away. Study annotated master games matched to your play, with guess-the-move challenges and a shared Master of the Day. ACCOUNTS AND ELO HELL PLUS Lessons and guest reviews need no account.
