About

My Slate teaches handwriting, starting with Bangla. Trace all 50 Bangla characters: the eleven vowels, the thirty-two consonants, the four extra forms ড় ঢ় য় ৎ, and the ং ঃ ঁ marks that alphabet apps usually leave out. The Bangla numerals ০–৯ are here too, alongside English capitals, lowercase and digits. HOW THE TRACING WORKS Each character appears as a dashed outline on ruled lines, with a green dot marking where the first stroke begins and a faint ghost of the letter underneath, so the shape is readable before a child starts. As they trace, My Slate compares their strokes against the character's own outline and scores how closely they followed it. The percentage stays on the practice bar, so a child can watch it climb as their hand steadies, and a letter traced well earns a small celebration. The score measures accuracy, not coverage — scribbling over a character does not pass it. BUILT FOR BANGLA Bengali characters double back on themselves in ways Latin letters never do. The tracing guide is drawn from each character's true contour rather than from a stroked outline, so a child follows one path instead of two crossing lines, and every Bangla character is set in a proper Bengali typeface at any size. ALSO IN MY SLATE • 36 colouring pictures — fruit, animals and things — with a tap-to-fill bucket • Free drawing with pens, lines, shapes and text, in fifteen colours • Slate, grid, lined or blank paper • Undo anything, or wipe the slate and start again • Keep finished work in My Slate, and share it NO ACCOUNT, NOTHING TO SIGN UP FOR There is no account and no sign-in. Drawings stay on the device. My Slate has been made and maintained by MKHG Lab since 2017.Read more
