About

Pathstone gives your child one small thing to do each day. Not on the screen — in the world. The choice is not random. Pathstone follows nine capabilities — spotting mistakes, finding another way, looking at your own work, finishing, working together, respect, order, learning how to learn, and finding what interests you — and picks the one that has been practised least. Difficulty rises only after the last few went well, and drops the moment your child says a task was hard. Every task happens away from the screen and takes a few minutes: "Find something you started and did not finish. Finish it today." "Listen to someone without interrupting. All the way to the end." "Ask a grown-up what they liked doing most when they were your age. Then ask one more question." "Improve something by taking a part away instead of adding one." WHAT GROWN-UPS SEE Behind a parental gate: how many stones have been placed, which capabilities have been practised, and exactly why today's task was chosen — the same numbers the app itself used to choose it. WHAT PATHSTONE DOES NOT DO No streaks. A streak counter moves the reason to keep going away from the work and onto the fear of losing something. A child who misses a day has not ruined anything. No badges, no confetti, no notifications. Those exist to pull you back to the screen. This app promises the opposite. No account. No server. No analytics. No third-party code of any kind. Everything stays on this device. No date of birth. A grown-up sets the age band once, behind the parental gate. Pathstone is not a game and does not try to be. It asks for two minutes a day, then gets out of the way.Read more
