About
Practise English pronunciation with Shakespeare's sonnets. Hear a line read, say it back, and see straight away which words you pronounced correctly, which were nearly right, and which need another try. Speak Shakespeare works like a language lab built around all 154 sonnets. First, listen to the narrator read a line. Then read the same line aloud yourself. The app listens to your voice with AI speech recognition and shows whether you pronounced each word correctly, almost correctly or incorrectly. Play back your recording and compare it with the narrator's. A line counts only when every word in it is pronounced correctly. "Almost" does not count. SHADOWING ON A SET TEXT Shadowing means listening to a reference voice and repeating straight after it. Every sonnet comes with its reference reading. You hear the line, you say the line, you see the result for each word. ELOCUTION AND CLEARER SPEECH To speak more clearly, work on each word you get wrong. A line of verse gives you a demanding exercise: every word is checked, and you see exactly which ones to work on next. READING SHAKESPEARE ALOUD If you came for the sonnets themselves, hear each one read and then practise saying the verse yourself, one line or stanza at a time. YOUR PACE, YOUR SCORE Work through lines and stanzas at your own pace. You can try a line again with no penalty for mistakes. Your score grows with the material you have mastered, not with the time you spend or the number of attempts. Comparing your result with other readers is up to you. ONE PURCHASE Some sonnets are available from the start. A one-off purchase unlocks the rest permanently. There is no subscription. The app's interface is available in English, Arabic, Chinese (Traditional), French, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.Read more
