About

Things You Do helps you build five everyday habits that research links to better mental health — without a diagnosis, an account, or a big commitment. Open it and start. There's no sign-up screen, no email, no phone number. Your profile is anonymous from the first launch. THE FIVE HABITS • Meaningful Activities — doing things that bring accomplishment, satisfaction or joy • Healthy Thinking — practising realistic, balanced thoughts, especially under stress • Goals and Plans — having something to work toward and look forward to • Healthy Routines — sleep, meals, movement and the daily basics that set you up well • Social Connections — genuine contact with the people who matter to you HOW IT WORKS Start with a short self-assessment — fifteen statements, under two minutes — to see where you currently stand across the five habits. You get a personalised read on your balance, and your first suggested activity straight away. From there the app suggests one small thing at a time, at moments that fit the shape of a normal day: routines in the morning, a reflection prompt in the early evening, wind-down at night, connection at weekends. Logging what you did takes a tap or two. Pick from a library of suggestions for each habit, or add your own activities in your own words and reuse them. Healthy Thinking works a little differently — instead of a checkbox, it opens a short guided prompt, because reframing a thought isn't something you tick off. And when there's nothing specific to suggest, you get a two-to-five minute breathing or stretching break instead of another generic reminder. WEEKLY EXPERIMENTS Set up to three small experiments for the week — things you want to try rather than targets you must hit. Give one a simple goal if you like ("three times this week"), or leave it as a plain intention. Log progress as it happens. Every Sunday evening, one gentle prompt opens a single wrap-up: how the week went, what to carry forward, and what to try next. Every few weeks it goes a little deeper and invites you to retake the assessment to see how your balance has shifted. An experiment that didn't happen is information, not failure. The app never frames it otherwise. SEEING YOUR PROGRESS A calm growth visual reflects your consistency over time. Weekly bands show where each habit landed. A simple streak counts any day you logged something. No points. No badges. No leaderboards. Nothing to compare yourself against, and no red marks for a missed day. PRIVATE BY DESIGN The AI that personalises your nudge wording runs entirely on your phone. The model is downloaded to your device and stays there — nothing you write is ever sent to an AI service, ours or anyone else's. You can delete the model whenever you like. Your entries sync to your account so they survive a lost or replaced phone. You can see what's stored and delete your account and all of it from inside the app, in one place. Nothing is ever sold or used for advertising, and there are no third-party ad trackers. A NOTE ON WHAT THIS IS Things You Do supports healthy everyday habits. It is not a clinical tool: it does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional mental health care. If you're going through something serious, please talk to a professional — crisis support resources are available in the app under Safety & Support. The app's name and five-category framework draw on the Things You Do Questionnaire, a peer-reviewed study measuring five kinds of everyday action linked to psychological health. This is an independent product, not affiliated with the study's authors — all wording, activities and content are written fresh for this app. The About & Sources screen links to the original paper.Read more
