About
Noon in a walled kitchen garden. A blank stretch of warm plaster, two copper training wires, and one young tree at the foot of it all. Train the wall — and make it bear. Espalier is a growth-design puzzle with a hook you can read in one screenshot: a fruit tree grown FLAT against a wall, the way real head gardeners have trained them for centuries. Tap the wall to grow. Wood rises cell by cell, and where it meets a training wire it can turn and run sideways — a cordon, the level arm of a true espalier. That is the whole verb. The puzzle is what you do with it. Because the sun is directly overhead, and your tree casts its own shade. A cordon bears fruit only where the sky above it is open: grow a second tier carelessly and it shades the harvest below into leaves. Stone ledges block the light too; old windows let it through. Every single move costs sap from a fixed budget, so a wrong branch isn't just ugly — it's spent. Find the dormant buds sleeping in the plaster and grow through them to win a little sap back. Reach the wall's fruit target and THE WALL BEARS. Twenty-four hand-designed walls climb through six named gardens — The Potting Yard, The Kitchen Garden, The South Wall, The Orchard Court, The Glasshouse Range, and The Head Gardener's Wall — each taller, wider, and stingier with sap than the last. Every wall was designed in its finished, fruiting form first, so every wall can be trained by hand; there are no dead ends. Come back tomorrow: each new day is Morning Rounds — your day-streak climbs and a free Almanac Page is waiting, the head gardener's own drawing glowing through the plaster to show you a shape that works. Miss a day and the streak is forgiven, never punished. Fill a 15-rung Gardener's Almanac of milestones from First Fruit to Head Gardener, and unlock six wall finishes — whitewash, russet brick, honey sandstone and more — all earned, none for sale. • One verb: tap to grow — rise up the wall, turn along the wires • Real self-shading: an upper cordon can put your own harvest in the dark • A sap budget every wall, with dormant buds that pay you back • Twenty-four hand-designed walls across six named gardens • Morning Rounds: day-streaks with grace and a free daily Almanac Page • A 15-rung Gardener's Almanac long-tail of milestones • Six earned wall finishes to repaint your garden — none for sale • Progress saved on device • Fully offline, no account, nothing collected Grow the tree.
