Fish Identifier - Fish101

I'm a retired Google engineer living in the Florida Keys. I love fishing, and I hate bad apps that are hard to use and sit behind paywalls. I started CatchReel to build a series of free apps that use cutting-edge AI for smarter fishing and boating. Fish101 is the first of the fleet. Snap a photo of any fish — Fish101 tells you what species it is, how good it tastes, and other fun facts about it. Free AI-based fish identifier for travelers, snorkelers, divers, anglers, aquarium-goers, and the curious. No signup. No ads. Completely free with no paid tier. Strong coverage of saltwater and freshwater sport fish, plus popular reef fish, public aquarium species, sharks, and rays. WHAT FISH101 DOES Take a photo of a fish (or pick one from your camera roll). In seconds, Fish101 identifies the species and shows you: • Common name and scientific name • A friendly description in plain English • Typical size, max size, max weight • Family and the region where it's found • Eating quality • A Wikipedia link if you want to dig deeper WHY FISH101 IS DIFFERENT Most fish ID apps are "free to download" but lock the real features behind a paid subscription. Fish101 is genuinely free. • Unlimited identifications — no daily caps, no quotas • No subscription, no premium tier, no upgrade prompts • No signup, no email, no account • No ads, no newsletters, no popups • No tracking — photos are processed and discarded; only your local history (which you control) stays on your phone Most fish ID apps are also based on older technology with limited species coverage, lower accuracy, and only one fish per photo. • Built on a cutting-edge AI model for fish identification • Identifies sport fish, reef fish, public-aquarium fish, sharks, rays, and commercial seafood • Saltwater and freshwater species from coasts around the world • Identifies multiple fish in a single photo WHO IT'S FOR • Travelers fishing or snorkeling somewhere new • Beach trips, public-aquarium visits, scuba dives • Anglers visiting a new region or trying saltwater for the first time • Curious kids and parents at the dock • Restaurant diners wondering what they ordered HOW TO USE IT 1. Open the app — straight to the camera 2. Snap a fish (or pick one from your photo library) 3. Get the species name and details in seconds 4. Save it to your history if you want to remember Fish101 is a utility, not a platform. One thing well: identify fish from a photo. No accounts, no walls, no nags.
