About

iXunZi is an offline workstation for the Xunzi: all 32 chapters, eight themes, aligned vernacular Chinese, and a learning English rendering. Not a quote wall. Read side by side, recite with the line highlighted, practice in Study Hall, and keep Daily Xunzi on the Home Screen. Open and read. No account. No ads. For a first reading of Encouraging Learning or Human Nature Is Bad, for bilingual study, and for anyone who wants text, voice, quizzes, and notes on one path. 1. The complete Xunzi • All 32 chapters, from Encouraging Learning to Yao Asked, by eight themes or the twenty juan • More than 1,400 segments, 100 famous lines, 24 concepts, 51 idioms, and 6 Xunzi-Mencius contrasts • List, grid, and card layouts, with sort and filter. Start from a line, a concept, or today, then return to the full chapter 2. Side-by-side reading • Bilingual, Chinese only, or English only, independent of the interface language • Vernacular and learning English switch under each segment • Traditional glyphs, pinyin with tones, vertical or centered layout, global type size • Long chapters page by segment or scroll as one. Introductions sit on the same page • Renderings are for study, not a scholarly last word 3. Immersive reading • Hide chrome, tap for tools, keep reciting, and open Ask Xunzi on the lines in view 4. Recitation workstation • Highlighted segments, adjustable rate and pitch, Chinese or English speech • Mix title, author, and body with classical, vernacular, and English • Continuous play, gaps, speak when silent, background audio • Lock Screen Now Playing, optional Live Activities and Dynamic Island • Vernacular and English can sit under the line as captions 5. Study Hall • Fade, fill-in, dictation check, and quiz • Fade and quiz update mastery. Batch practice from Favorites or playlists 6. Keyword Hunt and handwriting • A find-the-line game, separate from Study Hall • Write on the canvas. Recognition stays on device. Strokes are not uploaded 7. Ask Xunzi • Ask about the visible paragraph. Prompts include explain in vernacular and how to take this today • On iOS 26 and macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence, answers are generated on device • Otherwise the app opens introductions and appreciations. It will not invent lines as Xunzi 8. Daily Xunzi • Today on Home, with refresh, seasonal pools, local notifications, Continue Reading, and a streak • Random does not change today 9. Indexes • Famous lines, concepts (ritual, law, artifice, human nature is bad), idioms, and Xunzi-Mencius contrasts 10. Favorites, notes, history • Playlists, batch recitation or study, notes in three layouts, and a history you can clear 11. Cards • Several styles. Chinese, English, or bilingual. Share or save to Photos 12. Widgets and system entry • Daily, lines, Favorites, and study widgets on Home and Lock Screen, plus StandBy • Control Center on iOS 18, Siri, Shortcuts, deep links, optional Spotlight, offline search 13. Your setup • Light and Dark, nine accents plus custom, alternate icons • iPad full-screen workspace. iPhone, iPad, and Mac • Configurable shortcuts and tabs. Guides, feedback, VoiceOver, Reduce Motion 14. A simple day • Morning today, commute recitation, evening immersive reading or one fade, weekend theme reading into a playlist 15. Privacy • Offline, no account, no ads, no tracking. Optional iCloud for your own devices • On-device Ask Xunzi and handwriting. Public-domain classical text. Learning renderings under review • The same passages feed reading, recitation, study, notes, and widgets Tap a widget to open the matching passage. Open the app once if a tile looks stale.
