About

Exam rehearsal for the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines, unit by unit, on your phone and entirely offline. Independent study aid. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. Full mock papers in each unit's exam format, on the exam's own clock. You write by hand, as in the exam: the app is the question paper and the timer; it hands the paper in when time is up. Then you mark your script against the scheme, point by point. ALL FIVE UNITS - D1 Wine Production: 8 mock papers on the 90-minute clock, 79 questions and 600 cards - D2 Wine Business: 5 mock papers on the 60-minute clock, 40 questions and 300 cards - D3 Wines of the World: 10 theory mocks with a choice of questions as in the exam, 8 blind tasting mocks of 12 wines, 207 questions, 66 tasting notes and 2,020 cards - D4 Sparkling Wines: 5 exams of theory and three wines, 40 questions, 30 tasting notes and 250 cards - D5 Fortified Wines: 5 exams of theory and three wines, 40 questions, 30 tasting notes and 250 cards Buy only the units you need or unlock all five in one purchase. A free paper in every unit and a selection of the cards let you judge the standard before you buy. D6, the research assignment, is coursework rather than an exam, so the app does not cover it. THREE WAYS INTO EVERY QUESTION - Sit it: write your answer by hand under the clock, then mark it - Plan it: five minutes to jot the points an answer would make, marked against the scheme - Study it: the scheme, a model answer at distinction standard and a weaker answer with commentary MARKED POINT BY POINT - Every question shows its weighting, its share of the time and its command verbs - Mark schemes list the creditable points with their caps, the answers not to credit and what lifts an answer to distinction - Checks before you mark: did you answer the command verb, cover the scope, use the scenario - A model answer for every part and a weaker answer with commentary on what earned its marks and what cost them BLIND TASTING AT HOME (D3, D4 AND D5) - Each flight tells you what to buy: a category and a price level, never a brand, a producer or a shop - A friend pours the wines blind; you write your notes by hand on the clock, 15 minutes a wine - Mark each wine field by field against a tasting note for its style: one level per field, as the exam expects - Conclusions and identification marked in bands, with calibration pairs and conclusion drills - Taste and spit IF THE EXAM WERE TODAY - An indicative grade against the pass (55%), merit (65%) and distinction (75%) lines, from your own marked papers - Marks by learning outcome, so you can see which part of the unit is holding you back - D3 theory and tasting estimated separately, with a map of the regions you have not practised yet - Set an exam date for each unit and the app plans what to do each week CARDS ON SPACED REPETITION - 3,420 short questions on every part of each unit - The cards you keep missing come back sooner, the ones you know come back later - One daily reminder at an hour you pick, scheduled by your own phone PRIVATE AND OFFLINE No account, no subscription, no adverts. Your study data stays on your phone and the app works with no signal. Every question, mark scheme, model answer, tasting note and card was written for this app in our own words and is mapped to the specification's learning outcomes. Nothing comes from any real exam paper. From Worth Opening, the fine wine business of Raphael Tressieres.
