About
You’ve already chosen the wine. Vinquando tells you when to open it, how long to decant it and how cool to serve it. Photograph the front label. Vinquando reads it on your iPhone, recognizes the wine and vintage and shows you what to do before the first glass: • Ready now, or better in a few years? • Decant or not — and for how long • Serving temperature in °F or °C • Glass shape and decanter type • Drinking window and peak years YOUR EVENING, PLANNED BACKWARD Guests at 7 PM — when do you open the bottle? Tell Vinquando when you want to pour and where the bottle is now: in the cellar, in the fridge or at room temperature. It works backward from that moment and lays out every step: when to take the bottle out, when it goes into the fridge, when to open and decant. • Plan up to seven days ahead • Planning a day ahead for an older bottle with sediment? The plan starts the day before: stand it upright • A reminder for each step, if you like • A decanting timer that tells you when the wine is ready to pour A BUILT-IN WINE LIBRARY More than 1,200 producers, about 680 appellations and nearly 120 grape varieties — from Bordeaux, Chablis and Barolo to Rioja, the Mosel, Napa Valley and the Barossa Valley. Before the guide appears, check the vintage and bottle size — a magnum takes a little longer than a half bottle. Producer not in the library yet? Vinquando goes by the appellation or grape on the label instead. You can also search by hand or choose a style — a light red, an oaked Chardonnay, a Vintage Port. Either way you get a guide, and it tells you what it is based on. YOUR BOTTLES Bottles you scan or look up stay in a simple history. Afterward, note whether the timing and temperature were right. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-up • The label photo is read on your iPhone and then discarded • No tracking, no analytics, no server — your bottles and plans stay on your iPhone • Works offline A GUIDE, NOT A RULE Drinking windows, temperatures and decanting times are Vinquando’s own estimates, worked out from the wine’s style, age and bottle size — not critics’ scores. Storage, cork and bottle variation matter, so taste as you go. In English and German. For adults of legal drinking age. Please enjoy wine responsibly.Read more
