About
Every leather project starts the same way: a ruler, a sheet of paper and an hour of math before the first cut. Cut Punch Stitch does the drafting, so you get to the bench sooner. Pick a bifold wallet, a belt, a phone sleeve, a glasses case or a knife sheath. Type in your sizes or drag the edges of the pattern right on the cutting mat, and every piece redraws itself: shell, liner, card pockets, welts, keepers and belt loops included. Tell it which leather you are using and the pattern adjusts. A thicker hide gets more room at the fold, a case gets the ease it needs to close around what goes inside. Stitching holes are laid out at the spacing of your own pricking irons, from 2.7 to 4 mm, so the marks on paper line up with the teeth in your hand. Print it at true size across as many sheets as it takes. Each sheet carries a 50 mm check bar and overlap strips, so you know the scale is right before the knife touches leather. No printer nearby? Hold a bank card to the screen once to calibrate it, then lay tracing paper on the glass and copy the pattern straight off your phone. Every seam shows how much thread it needs. The length accounts for stitch spacing, the layers you are sewing through, backstitches and the tails on both needles, so you cut one length instead of three. A separate calculator handles any seam you can measure with a ruler. Your leather lives on a shelf: each hide with its type, thickness, colour and what you paid for it. When a piece is finished, the leather it used comes off that hide and the material cost is worked out in dollars. The bench keeps time while you work. Press and hold to stamp each stage, from cutting and beveling to punching, stitching and finishing, and the clock remembers every session, even days later. Finished pieces go into your logbook with their hours, thread and leather. Over time you see how many evenings went into the craft each month and how far each hide has stretched. Made for hobbyists cutting their first wallet, for makers filling orders for belts and sheaths, and for anyone tired of redrawing the same pattern for one more size. Draft it, print it, then cut, punch and stitch.Read more
