About
Layer3 bundles the things an admin does all day – on iPhone, iPad and Mac, without opening the laptop. Every device you find is a card from which all tools are one tap away. FIND DEVICES • Home page with the device list of your network: ping sweep, hostnames, vendors from the IEEE registry • Scan history with a diff to the previous scan: new, gone, moved, renamed • MAC addresses from your router’s ARP table (SNMP) or from the Layer3 Agent – even for devices that do not answer ping • Search by name, IP, MAC or vendor; open any address directly CHECK • Ping with statistics, jitter and history, IPv4 and IPv6 • Traceroute through the Layer3 Agent: hops live with names and packet loss, ICMP or UDP • Port check: common ports, 1–1024 or your own list, with banners; web ports open in the browser • Path MTU: the largest packet size that gets through without fragmentation • Diagnosis assistant: checks DNS, ping, web ports and MTU and tells you in plain words what is wrong DNS & WHOIS • DNS lookup for all record types, system resolver or Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, your own server • Resolver comparison – four resolvers at once, e.g. after DNS changes • Whois for domains, IP addresses and AS numbers, following referrals to the responsible server • My Network: public IP and ASN, the way the internet sees you SUBNETS • Calculator for IPv4 and IPv6 with binary view • Split, VLSM planning and summarization • Config snippets for Cisco, MikroTik, Juniper, FortiGate and Linux; export as CSV and Markdown SNMP • System info, interfaces and ARP table of your router (SNMPv2c, read-only) LAYER3 AGENT (MAC, FREE) iPhone and iPad are not allowed to run traceroute and cannot see MAC addresses. The free Layer3 Agent runs on a Mac in your network and takes over exactly that. Layer3 discovers it automatically, you enter a pairing code once – the connection is encrypted and stays within your network. Download and guide: bumberger.at/layer3 PRIVACY No account, no ads, no tracking, no cloud. Scans and settings stay on your device. Only DNS, whois and “My Network” query – when you start them – the respective resolvers and whois servers. English and German. Universal purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac.Read more
