About

Korean Tree teaches you to read Hangul fluently: quickly, without hesitation, the same way a fluent reader of English or Spanish reads. It does not teach Korean grammar or conversation. The one thing it optimizes for is recognizing whole words and recurring syllable blocks on sight, instead of sounding out each letter one at a time. HOW IT WORKS Recognition mode shows one word at a time, in large Hangul. Decide for yourself whether you could read it, then swipe left if you could, right if you couldn't. Tap the speaker icon whenever you want to hear it pronounced, or hold the "push to reveal" button to check the romanization. There's no multiple choice and no autoplay audio: you read the word yourself first. Recall mode flips it around: you see the English meaning and type the Hangul yourself, using your keyboard's Korean input. Sentence mode applies the same swipe interaction to full sentences, once you've learned enough of a level's words. Family view lets you look up any word's shared root syllable and see the other words that build on it, the app's core organizing idea made visible. WHAT'S INSIDE - 5,030 of the most common Korean words, each with romanization, an English translation, and its difficulty level - Words grouped into families that share a root syllable and a related meaning, so your eye starts recognizing that syllable block everywhere it appears - Roughly five example sentences per word, shown automatically once you've learned it - 24 levels, unlocked in order as you learn 90% of each level's words PRIVACY Korean Tree runs entirely on your device. No account, no sign-in, no network calls, no analytics, no ads. Your progress never leaves your phone. If your device doesn't have a Korean text-to-speech voice installed, the app tells you plainly, with steps to add one, rather than silently practicing without audio. WHO IT'S FOR Built for someone who already has some Korean background but whose reading still feels like decoding rather than reading. It assumes you already know what Hangul is: it won't teach you the writing system from scratch, just help you read it fast.Read more
