About
Searo Orbit is an on-device heat conduction laboratory. Paint a material grid, set boundary temperatures, and watch a finite-difference solver spread heat across your plate in real time. No account required, no cloud, no ads. Just physics. Build experiments from ten real engineering materials, from copper and aluminium to EPS foam and still air, each with handbook-accurate conductivity, density, and heat capacity values. Divide your plate into up to 64x64 cells, assign independent boundary temperatures or insulation to each edge segment, drop temperature probes, and run the simulation to steady state. Switch between explicit and ADI solvers to explore stability trade-offs, and monitor residuals, ETA, and flux balance as the field evolves. Eight built-in scenarios guide you through the fundamentals: watch isotherms bow through a copper cross, see a steel cold bridge short-circuit a foam wall, trace two channels racing from the same heat pin, or observe a water jacket absorbing heat around a hot center. Save your own setups, review convergence trends in the run log, compare any two materials side by side in the Codex, and use the camera to photograph a real object and map its brightness bands onto the grid as material assignments. Searo Orbit is built for students, engineers, and curious learners who want hands-on intuition for heat transfer without specialist simulation software.Read more
