About

Pymote is a remote control for Mopidy — not a music player. Your music never plays on your iPhone or iPad. It plays on your own Mopidy server, straight into the DAC and hi-fi system connected to it. Pymote is the remote: browse your library, pick an album, control playback and see exactly what your DAC is receiving, from the couch. What you need: a Mopidy server on your home network (Mopidy 4 with its HTTP frontend), ideally with Mopidy-Local for your own files and Mopidy-Tidal for streaming. No server yet? Tap "Try Demo Mode" to explore the app with a fictional library. YOUR LIBRARY, ONE PLACE • Your local albums and your TIDAL collection merged into a single cover grid, with streaming albums clearly marked • Artists, search across your files and TIDAL at once, and full TIDAL browsing: your collection, new releases, hi-res, genres and moods • Add TIDAL albums to your collection with one tap and they join your library MADE FOR SERIOUS LISTENING • See the real format reaching your DAC — source, sample rate and whether the chain is bit-perfect (DSD shown as DSD → PCM) • Works with bit-perfect setups where volume is set on the DAC: the volume slider simply steps aside • Pressing details from your files' tags: label, catalog number, country and media, so you know which edition you're playing LINER NOTES, BACK ON SCREEN • Full credits for every track: musicians and their instruments, composers, producers and engineers • Album reviews and artist biographies • Your own rips are matched to TIDAL to fill in credits, reviews and bios when your tags don't have them A PROPER REMOTE • Play now or add to the queue, reorder and remove tracks, shuffle and repeat • Mini-player and full Now Playing screen with live progress • Real-time updates: change the track from any other client and Pymote follows instantly • Sign in to TIDAL on your server right from the app • Update your server's music library from the app when you add new albums Designed for iPhone and iPad, with a two-column album view on iPad. Some features — audio format and bit-perfect info, credits, reviews, bios, favorites and library updates — use mopidy-goodies, a free, open-source Mopidy extension (github.com/prietus/mopidy-goodies). It's optional: without it Pymote still browses, searches and controls playback. Pymote does not collect any data. It talks only to the Mopidy server you point it at. Mopidy is an independent open-source project. TIDAL is a trademark of its owner. Pymote is not affiliated with either.Read more

New in 1.1: "Identify Song" (Search tab, waveform button) uses ShazamKit and the microphone to recognise music playing nearby; nothing is recorded or stored. In Demo Mode ("Try Demo Mode" on the connection screen) recognition is simulated and no microphone is used. Lyrics, radio, playlists and stats also work in Demo Mode with fictional content.
