Romben

Romben brings professional architectural paint research to the field. Photograph a sanded crater through historic paint layers and let the app do the rest: it measures each layer in micrometres using spherical-cap geometry, samples the colour of every stratum, and matches against a built-in library of 36 period colours spanning Georgian to late modern. The crater workflow guides you through five clear steps - photograph, calibrate the scale, place ring boundaries, correct white balance with a grey card tap, and read. The measurement engine computes layer thicknesses and scores every layer against documented historic paints using CIEDE2000 colour difference, returning ranked matches with delta-E scores. A practice crater lets you learn the method before your first real sample. Build a full stratigraphic picture across a building as you survey. The chart view plots every site to scale, grouped by room, with scheme ribbons linking layers of the same decoration campaign across columns. A built-in alignment algorithm compares each site's layer sequence to six decoration schemes - covering c.1790 to c.1990 - and assigns campaign dates automatically. When a survey is complete, export a section slip: a formal document showing the crater photograph, layer column, thickness table, colour matches, and scheme metadata, ready to file in a conservation record. Romben works entirely offline. All survey data, the reference colour library, pigment notes, binder histories, and decoration schemes are stored on device.
