About
Point your camera at a frog from a rice paddy, or a newt or salamander from a garden or pond — the on-device AI suggests its closest match and keeps a running guide of what you've found. Never pick up or take home protected or living creatures without checking local rules. Some frogs, newts and salamanders are said to carry toxic skin secretions, so never handle them with bare hands — observe from a short distance instead. 【Photo identification covers 27 species】 Frogs and newts native to Japan (Japanese tree frog, black-spotted pond frog, Japanese common toad, Japanese fire belly newt and more) / newts and salamanders from around the world (fire salamander, tiger salamander, axolotl and more). Anything outside this list can't be identified correctly from a photo. Rather than force a guess, the app honestly says "couldn't identify this." It never pretends to know something it doesn't. A full list of everything this guide can identify is built into the app. As a guide, it covers 28 species in total, including one newly-added species that photo identification doesn't cover yet. 【No false confidence】 - Up to three candidates, never a single flat answer. - Every candidate comes with one of three confidence levels (close match / similar / possibly similar). - When confidence is too low, no candidates are shown at all. - The same photo always gives the same answer, every time. 【No server, so no running costs】 Recognition runs entirely on the device. Photos and records stay on this device only — nothing is ever sent out. No account required, no ads. 【Pricing】 The app itself is free: 15 free identifications, up to 3 quiz questions per day, and your latest 10 records are shown for free. A one-time purchase (price shown in the app, no subscription) removes the identification and quiz limits, shows your full record list, and unlocks CSV export, the map view, and detailed photography and observation tips for every species. No further charges, ever. "Restore Purchases" brings your unlock back after switching phones. Free backup: export your records as a text file and restore them later (photos not included).Read more
