About

First, a refusal. This app does not deal with edibility. Please never use it to decide whether a mushroom may be eaten. Second, another refusal. It does not name the species. From a photo it goes as far as the genus, for example close to Amanita, and it stops there. Specialists do not settle a species from one photograph either. This app draws the same line. WHAT IT CAN ANSWER: 18 GENERA Agaricus, Amanita, Auricularia, Boletus, Clitocybe, Coprinellus, Cortinarius, Flammulina, Ganoderma, Hygrocybe, Inocybe, Lactarius, Leccinum, Lycoperdon, Mycena, Pholiota, Russula, Trametes. Only two ways of putting it: close, or possibly close. No percentages. Anything outside those eighteen is not nudged toward the nearest match; the app says it could not find a close relative. WHAT YOU CAN READ: 68 WRITE-UPS Alongside the eighteen genera there are write-ups for the mushrooms people actually talk about at home, including shiitake, oyster mushroom, king oyster, beech mushroom, maitake, nameko, matsutake and snow fungus. Sixty-eight in total. Each one covers the look, the season, where you meet it, the clues for telling it apart, how it lives and one small fact, with its sources named (Japanese and English Wikipedia, GBIF Backbone Taxonomy). You can read the whole thing without taking a single photo. ABOUT LOOKALIKES Mushrooms that share a colour and a shape can belong to completely different groups. That is why this app is built not to over-answer. A short candidate list is not laziness. It is the line being held. WHAT IT WILL NOT ANSWER Whether something is edible. How poisonous it is. What to do after eating one. Provenance or market value. None of these. If you feel unwell, please consult a medical professional rather than a result screen. YOUR OBSERVATIONS Photo and date are saved as a record. A candidate can be attached to a record, but never as a settled identification. Attaching a location is your choice, switched on record by record. SIX THINGS THE ONE-TIME PURCHASE OPENS 1 Unlimited AI checks (now 3 a day, unlimited for the first 7 days after install) 2 Unlimited daily quiz (now 3 questions a day) 3 Open your finds on a map (closed for now) 4 Export your records as CSV (closed for now) 5 Photo tips and observation notes for all 68 write-ups (closed for now) 6 Your records stay fully visible even if you never buy. We do not hide them and we do not delete them. No monthly fee, no auto-renewal. The exact amount is confirmed on the App Store purchase screen. Recognition runs inside the device. Photos and records are never sent anywhere. No account, no ads, and it keeps working deep in a wood with no signal. From SAKURA PRODUCTSRead more
