About

Midway upon the journey of our life I found myself within a forest dark, For the straightforward pathway had been lost. So begins the Inferno, written by Dante Alighieri in the early fourteenth century: a poem that follows a man down through the nine circles of Hell, with Virgil as his guide. This is the whole of it, all 34 cantos, with the Italian Dante wrote beside a translation in your language, and every tercet read aloud. • The complete poem in Italian, from the 1921 edition of Dante's works • Longfellow's English verse translation (1867), Xavier Pinheiro's Portuguese verse (1888), Streckfuß's German verse (1876) and Lamennais's French prose (1863), each complete • The whole poem read aloud in every one of the five languages, over 21 hours in all, the page following the voice tercet by tercet • The Italian alone, the translation alone, or both side by side • Eighteen passages as cinematic scenes, with the poem as their voice • A picture for every canto and every circle, many of them moving; take any one up and look closer • A chart of the descent that marks how far you have gone Everything is on your device. No account, no connection, nothing to sign in to. The voices are synthetic, made for this edition. The pictures are generated with Grok Imagine.Read more
