About
Gifted screenings don't test what a child has memorized. They test how a child reasons. Cub Climb builds that reasoning, a few short puzzles at a time, for children in grades 3 to 8. WHAT IT COVERS The CCAT-7, CogAT, CAT4 and OLSAT all measure the same three kinds of reasoning: verbal, quantitative and non-verbal. Cub Climb has nine original puzzle types across all three, including analogies, number series, figure matrices and paper folding. WHAT YOU'RE GETTING Over 3,600 original reasoning puzzles: - Verbal: 1,080 - Quantitative: 1,500 - Non-verbal: 1,036 By grade: about 740 each for grades 3, 4 and 5, 558 for grade 6, 504 for grade 7 and 329 for grade 8. Your child isn't meant to finish them all. Ten to twenty minutes a few times a week is plenty. The size is there so practice stays fresh from the first week to test day. ANSWER, THEN EXPLAIN WHY Most practice stops at the right answer. Cub Climb asks one more question: what's the rule? Getting the answer earns one star. Naming the rule behind it earns the second. A child who can explain why an answer is right can solve the next puzzle, even one they have never seen. PRACTICE THAT ADJUSTS TO YOUR CHILD - Puzzles start at your child's grade and the one below, easiest first - A missed puzzle comes back a day later, then after three days, then a week, until it sticks - A lucky guess isn't counted as learned, and a careless slip isn't counted as a gap - A short summary after each set shows right answers, rules named, and whether your child rushed FOR PARENTS Behind a parental gate: puzzles done, minutes practised, and which skills are going well or need more work. Set a daily goal and a reminder. No streaks to break, no scores, no pressure. Free for the first 20 puzzles, with no account needed. No ads, no tracking, and we never ask a child for a name or a school. Every puzzle is original and is not a copy of any real test question. CCAT-7, CogAT, CAT4 and OLSAT are trademarks of their respective owners. Cub Climb is not affiliated with or endorsed by them or by any school board.
