Mamahuhu

Mamahuhu is a screen time gate for the apps you open without thinking. The way through is a short Mandarin lesson. Pick the apps that pull you in. Next time you reach for one, a Mamahuhu screen comes up instead of the feed. Tap it, answer three quick cards, about 45 seconds, and you're taken straight back to the app you reached for, open for 15 minutes. Then the gate closes again, and the next reach brings the next lesson. You never have to decide to study. The lessons come out of scrolling you were going to do anyway. HOW IT WORKS • Choose the apps to gate with Apple's Screen Time picker • Reach for one and Mamahuhu steps in first • Answer three cards: pick a word's meaning, pick the word for a meaning, build a short phrase from tiles • Finish, and you're back where you were for 15 minutes • Or put the phone down. The gate stays up either way WHAT YOU LEARN Every word comes with its characters, tone-coloured pinyin, its meaning, and why it's worth knowing. The words are Mandarin for the dinner table: greeting someone older politely, saying thank you, and complimenting the food. NO STREAKS, NO POINTS There's nothing to keep alive. No streak, no badges, no score. Just the words, a few at a time, where you already are. YOU'RE IN CONTROL • Turn the gate off in Mamahuhu at any time • Your apps stay installed and untouched. Nothing gets deleted • Do a lesson whenever you like, without being asked PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no ads, no tracking. Nothing you do in Mamahuhu leaves your phone.
