Volten turns the classic flash-to-thunder technique into a precision storm-safety instrument. Tap when you see the lightning. Tap when you hear the thunder. Volten measures the gap and tells you exactly how far away the storm cell is — no guesswork, no vague rules of thumb. Count three or more flashes and Volten fits a live track to the cell: its speed, compass heading, and closest point of approach. The range ring on the main screen closes or opens in real time, giving you an immediate sense of whether the storm is bearing down or tracking away. The Ground screen is where safety decisions are made. Select your current exposure — open pitch, golf course, exposed ridge, beach, on the water, or any of eleven outdoor situations — and Volten calculates whether you have time to reach your shelter before the cell enters your strike ring. A clear verdict tells you to Go Now, Move Soon, or Hold, with a time-budget breakdown that shows exactly why. After the last thunder, Volten starts the 30-minute all-clear countdown required before it is safe to go back outside. Any new thunder resets the clock.
