SapphoX

SapphoX helps gardeners understand the microclimate of every corner of their plot. On a clear winter night, the difference between a sheltered south-facing wall and an open frost pocket can be several degrees — enough to mean the difference between a tender plant surviving or being lost. SapphoX makes that invisible risk visible, so you can plant with confidence. Survey each spot in your garden by photographing it and marking the surfaces that shape its night temperature: walls, paving, water features, turf, and overhead cover. SapphoX scores eight shelter factors — wall mass, sky view, cold-air drainage, exposure, water buffer, paving mass, cover cloth, and ground contact — each contributing a signed temperature credit. The result is a predicted night minimum for that spot, calculated entirely on your device with no internet connection required. Bring your plants into the picture. SapphoX holds a catalogue of tender subjects with frost-tolerance thresholds. Match every plant against every surveyed spot and receive a clear three-way verdict: Holds, Marginal, or Loses it. The Programme screen turns those verdicts into a monthly action list — when to lay fleece, insulate pots, or move containers under cover. The Toolshed provides a full glossary of shelter terms, a fault key for nine recognised site problems such as frost hollows and wind funnels, and settings for your latitude band. Everything runs offline. No account, no subscription, no data sent anywhere. Just precise, local calculations that help you make the most of the ground you have.
