About

Downtown Calgary has ten kilometres of enclosed walkway one floor up, and almost nobody can picture it. Dayshift draws it, routes you through it, and tells you what is open before you set off. WHAT IT DOES A map of the whole Plus 15 All 231 corridors — 101 bridges and 130 interior stretches — drawn over the downtown street grid, so you can finally see where they are. Tap one to set your start, tap another for where you are going. Routes that stay indoors A walking route with numbered steps: cross the enclosed bridge, continue through the building. It gives you the distance, the minutes, and how many metres are open to the sky — and offers a fully enclosed alternative when the quickest way is not the driest one. An answer, not a directory Explore answers the question you actually have: coffee before nine, lunch at noon, somewhere to sit at three. Ranked by the walk Dayshift's own router prices, and filtered by what the opening hours really say. The Inside Walk 360° photographs you can step through, so you can see a corridor before you commit to it. Eight corridors are captured so far, and more are being added. Meet me Send somebody a link that says where to meet. They open it in a browser — no app, no account, nothing to install — and it shows them the place, whether it is open, and the walk to it from wherever they are. WHY IT IS DIFFERENT It works with no signal. The map, the routing and the steps are on your phone rather than on a server. That matters in the middle of a bridge. It is honest about what it does not know. A day nobody wrote down is shown as unrecorded, never as closed. Where the City's own data does not join two stretches of the network, Dayshift says so and shows you the one crossing outside rather than pretending there is an indoor way. The map never needs an account. Finding your way and finding what is open are free and always will be. An account is free too, and only adds notifications and a Meet-me pin you can take back. No advertising and no tracking. There is no advertising software and no crash reporter in this app. Usage measurement is off until you turn it on in Settings, and your location is never sent to us unless you deliberately share a live pin. WHAT IT IS NOT There is no turn-by-turn voice guidance and no blue dot. GPS does not work reliably inside a concrete bridge, so Dayshift narrows it down and you confirm where you are with one tap. Step-free routing is not offered yet. No corridor has been surveyed for it, and promising a route nobody has checked is the one mistake this app will not make. Built in Calgary by two people who walk this network every day.Read more
