Wanderfiend

Wanderfiend is a curated, mascot-guided guide to walkable Bay Area neighborhoods — no account, no sign-in, no tracking, no analytics. Open the app and pick a neighborhood by hand, from the Mission and North Beach in San Francisco to Berkeley and Oakland in the East Bay, Palo Alto and Mountain View on the Peninsula, and Downtown San Jose in the South Bay. Location is optional: deny it and browse by zone instead — nothing about where you are gets tracked or sent anywhere. The Fiend is your mascot guide. Chat with it for a nudge toward something good, or just wander the map on your own. Every place in the catalog is curated by hand, with real photos sourced from Wikimedia Commons and credited in-app to the photographer. Tap a place to see the photo, the credit, and an Open in Maps button that hands you off to Apple Maps for directions. Save the ones you want to come back to in the Saved tab. The places and their photos live on your device; the app only reaches out for a small catalog fetch, never to track you. No account. No sign-in. No ads. No analytics. Just a mascot, a map, and good places to wander into.
