About
Allez! Allez! is a descending game for Apple Watch. You start at the top of a real col and go down the real road: every hairpin, every gradient, from map data of the mountain itself. THE CONTROLS • Roll the Digital Crown back to brake, forward to release. Grab too much and the wheels lock. • Roll your wrist into the bend to lean. Lean too little and you run wide, over the white line, onto the gravel, and off. • Tap left, right, left, right to pedal on the straights. THE ROADS • Col du Tourmalet, east side: the summit hairpins at 18%. • Alpe d'Huez: bend 21 downwards. • Sa Calobra: the tie-knot bend and the cliffs. • Col du Galibier, north: high, fast and open. • Mont Ventoux: off the bald summit and into the trees. • Passo dello Stelvio: the first sixteen of the forty-eight. Each descent is about five kilometres of real road, cut from the summit. The road drops away in front of you because the heights are the mountain's own. THE DAY Road paint, chevron boards, the devil with his pitchfork, crowds and campervans on the hairpins, the caravan, the photographer's moto, the helicopter, cows with bells. On the Pyrenean cols, the Basque wall. THE TIMES Every col has a Game Center leaderboard. Your best is kept on the Watch, and the team car tells you at each split whether you're up or down on it. ON YOUR IPHONE The companion app is the road book: each col from above with its hairpins marked, the elevation profile, your times and the Game Center boards, and the packs. Buy a pack on your iPhone and it's unlocked on your wrist. Choose an aero, climbing or endurance bike. Turn the guide line on while you learn the line, off when you know it. The six launch cols are free, with no ads, no account and nothing to sign up for. The Pyrenees pack adds the Aubisque, Peyresourde, Luz Ardiden and the Port de Balès for a single small purchase. More packs follow. The game is played on Apple Watch; the iPhone app is the road book and the shop. From the makers of Short Rounds and Long Glide. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Unlocking a pack is more dependable. If the App Store can't be reached, the button now says so and tries again, rather than doing nothing. Purchases waiting on Ask to Buy approval are shown as waiting.
