About

Mishkat Quran is a quiet place to listen to the Quran. Choose a reciter, choose a soundscape to sit underneath, and read along as the words are recited. No accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and nothing about your listening leaves your phone. LISTEN Over 200 recitations of the complete Quran, from Mishary al-Afasy and Abdul Basit to Al-Husary, Al-Minshawi, As-Sudais and many more. Every surah streams, and any surah can be kept on your phone for listening with no signal. FOLLOW ALONG, WORD BY WORD For reciters that publish timing data, Mishkat highlights each word exactly as it is recited and scrolls the translation with it. These are marked "word by word" in the reciter list. For the rest, the text still follows the recitation, paced by verse length, and the player tells you which of the two you are hearing rather than pretending to a precision it does not have. FINISH THE QURAN AT YOUR OWN PACE Set a khatmah over 7, 30, 60 or 90 days and Mishkat works out each day's portion. Listening counts as progress, so the plan keeps itself up to date while you listen — no ticking things off. If you fall behind, the missed verses are folded into today rather than skipped. MEMORISE A PASSAGE Pick a verse range and drill it: repeat each verse as many times as you need, then run the whole passage together, at whatever speed suits you. The repeats are exact rather than approximate, because the app knows where every word falls. A SOUNDSCAPE UNDERNEATH Six ambiences — rain, rainstorm, ocean, wind, fireplace and a summer night — mix under the recitation at a volume you set. They are natural sounds only; nothing tonal or musical is placed under the Quran. The screen takes its colour and movement from whichever one you choose, so the app changes with what you are hearing. READ, OR JUST LISTEN The Uthmani script in Amiri Quran or Scheherazade New, at a size you choose, with translation and transliteration you can show or hide. Or hide the text altogether for a full-screen player, where a ring divided by verse shows how far through the surah you are. FOR FALLING ASLEEP A sleep timer that fades out instead of stopping short, including "at the end of this surah" — because a clock cannot know it is about to cut you off mid-verse. OFFLINE The Arabic text, four translations, transliteration and every ambient sound are built into the app, so it works on a plane the moment you install it. Download recitations one surah at a time or a whole reciter at once, with resumable transfers and a Wi-Fi-only option. TRANSLATIONS INCLUDED Saheeh International, M.A.S. Abdel Haleem, Muhammad Hamidullah (French), and a Latin transliteration. PRIVACY Mishkat has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking. It collects nothing. The only requests it makes are for the audio you asked to hear. Quran text and word timings from quran.com. Reciter catalogue from mp3quran.net.Read more
