About
A pure-tone hearing test that checks both ears in about three minutes, with the headphones you already own. Most hearing apps play a handful of tones and hand you a verdict. This one measures your threshold at seven frequencies in each ear, from 125 Hz to 8 kHz, plots them on a real audiogram, and prints the conditions the numbers were taken under so you know how much to trust them. We check your setup before we measure Your result depends on your headphones and on how quiet the room is. Before a single tone plays, the app confirms headphones are connected, recognises the headset, asks you to set the volume between 70 and 90 percent, and measures how loud it is around you right now. If something is off, it says so instead of pretending. What you get • Know how you hear at every pitch — seven frequencies, one ear at a time • Read a real audiogram, not a score — the chart shape a clinic actually uses • See your hearing age as a range, next to your own age group • Track change over time — two tests on one chart, frequency by frequency • Hand over a one-page PDF instead of a screenshot of your phone How the test works Put on any headphones, find a quiet room, and tap the moment you hear a tone — even a faint one. The app works one ear at a time and steps down in level until it finds the softest tone you can still hear, at 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz and 8 kHz. Some presentations are silent on purpose, so guessing shows up as guessing. At the end you get an audiogram with the right ear drawn as O and the left as X, a reliability grade, and a plain-language read of each ear. Honest about its own limits An iPhone is not an audiometer and consumer headphones are not calibrated, so every scale in the app is labelled estimated dB HL (uncalibrated). Every saved result carries the headset, the volume, the room-noise reading and the date beside it. The app will not run the test through the phone speaker, because a level nobody knows is not a measurement. Everything stays on your iPhone No account. No sign-up. No upload. No ads. Nothing you measure leaves the device, and the test itself needs no network connection at all. The microphone is used for one thing only — measuring how loud the room is before the test — and no audio is recorded, saved or sent anywhere. You can delete every stored result from Settings. Not a medical device Hearing Test is a screening tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, and it does not replace an examination by an audiologist or physician. Results are an estimate produced with uncalibrated equipment in an unknown room. If you have ear pain, a sudden change in hearing, ringing that will not stop, or any concern at all about your hearing, see a qualified professional. At best this app gives you a dated audiogram and a reason to book that appointment. What you need • Any headphones — AirPods, wired earbuds or over-ears • A quiet room • About three minutesRead more
A pure-tone hearing test that checks both ears in about three minutes, with the headphones you already own.
Most hearing apps play a handful of tones and hand you a verdict. This one measures your threshold at seven frequencies in each ear, from 125 Hz to 8 kHz, plots them on a real audiogram, and prints the conditions the numbers were taken under so you know how much to trust them.
We check your setup before we measure
Your result depends on your headphones and on how quiet the room is. Before a single tone plays, the app confirms headphones are connected, recognises the headset, asks you to set the volume between 70 and 90 percent, and measures how loud it is around you right now. If something is off, it says so instead of pretending.
What you get
• Know how you hear at every pitch — seven frequencies, one ear at a time
• Read a real audiogram, not a score — the chart shape a clinic actually uses
• See your hearing age as a range, next to your own age group
• Track change over time — two tests on one chart, frequency by frequency
• Hand over a one-page PDF instead of a screenshot of your phone
How the test works
Put on any headphones, find a quiet room, and tap the moment you hear a tone — even a faint one.
Honest about its own limits
An iPhone is not an audiometer and consumer headphones are not calibrated, so every scale in the app is labelled estimated dB HL (uncalibrated). Every saved result carries the headset, the volume, the room-noise reading and the date beside it. The app will not run the test through the phone speaker, because a level nobody knows is not a measurement.
