About

What would your energy bills be if you changed something? What If Home Energy answers that one question. Enter your home, your usage and the tariff you are actually on, then model a change and see the difference in pounds per year before you commit to anything. WHAT YOU CAN MODEL • Solar panels — array size, how much you use directly, and what you export • A home battery — including shifting usage into a cheap off-peak window • A heat pump — heat demand from your own home, with an efficiency you set or a typical one • An electric vehicle — home and public charging, each at the right rate • Insulation — what better loft or cavity insulation would save • A different tariff — your own rates, with exit fees and switch dates • The Ofgem price cap — what it would cost you now, and next quarter BUILT AROUND YOUR ACTUAL BILL Enter unit rates and standing charges for electricity and gas, including off-peak rates for Economy 7 and EV tariffs. Oil, LPG and district heating are supported for homes off the gas grid. VAT is handled per tariff, so comparisons stay honest across a VAT change. COMPARE, DO NOT GUESS Every scenario sits next to your current setup, so you always see the difference rather than a number with no reference point. Estimated carbon emissions are shown alongside cost. PRICE CAP AWARE The app knows the current Ofgem cap for all fourteen regions of Great Britain and compares your tariff against it, so you can see whether you are better or worse off staying put. Cap rates update without needing an app update. Northern Ireland is outside the cap regime and the app says so rather than showing a comparison that does not apply. WHAT IF PLUS A one-off purchase, not a subscription, adds tariffs with several cheap windows a day, a battery modelled through the day, hour-by-hour charts of your home, and reminders when your fix ends or the cap changes. Everything else stays free. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. Everything you enter is stored on your device. One optional feature sends the first half of your postcode to work out your energy region — never your full address — and you can pick your region from a list instead. What If Home Energy provides estimates based on the figures you enter and standard UK consumption assumptions. It is not financial advice. Always check rates with your supplier before switching.Read more

What If Plus is here: a one-off purchase, not a subscription. Everything the app did before stays free. • Several cheap windows a day: describe your real tariff, from overnight to a midday dip or an evening peak. • A battery that follows your day, charging and discharging window by window. • Your home through a day: every fuel hour by hour, on average, winter and summer days. • Reminders when your fix ends or Ofgem announces the next cap. Free for everyone: model insulation, use your own bill to calibrate the estimate, and a clearer Results page. Flats are now costed as flats, storage heater…
