About
Student pilots do not freeze on the radio because they did not study enough. They freeze because they have never said the words out loud to anyone. ATC Ready teaches you the radio from scratch, then makes you say it out loud on the ground, where getting it wrong costs you nothing. START FROM ZERO No aviation background needed. The course opens with the phonetic alphabet and how numbers are spoken, then your first call to Ground, taxi, takeoff and the pattern, departures and airspace, arrivals, emergencies, and on into instrument work like holding patterns. Short lessons, one idea each, in the order you actually need them, so you never have to guess what to study next. The ideas that are hard to put into words are drawn out for you instead of buried in text. SAY IT OUT LOUD Reading about the radio does not prepare you for the radio. Hold the mic button and make the call, out loud, to a controller that listens and answers. Real phraseology, real clearances, read at real controller speed and not slowed down for you. GET SCORED ON EVERY PART Your transmission is checked element by element: the facility, your callsign, your position, your request. You do not just get a pass or a fail. You see the part you dropped, and you say it again until it is clean. THE CHEAPEST HOUR IN AVIATION IS THIS ONE Aircraft rental and instructor time are billed by the hour, and the meter does not stop while you work out what to say. Every clearance you have to hear twice, every call your instructor has to talk you through, every lap of the pattern spent thinking about words instead of flying, all of it is on your invoice. Learn the radio here, on your couch, for the price of a couple of tenths on the Hobbs. Then show up already knowing what to say and spend your lessons learning to fly. PROVE YOU UNDERSTOOD IT Hear a taxi clearance, then draw the route on the airport chart. It is checked against the real taxi route. This is how runway incursions are actually prevented, by understanding the instruction rather than nodding along to it. AT REAL AIRPORTS, INCLUDING YOURS Most radio trainers put you at a sample airport. ATC Ready runs on real airport data, with real runways, real taxiways and their real names, at over 19,000 airports worldwide and more than 8,600 in the United States. Set your home field and what you practice is what you will actually fly. WHAT YOU CAN PRACTICE - Draw the Route. Hear a taxi clearance and trace it on the chart. - Taxi to the Runway. Talk to Ground from parking to the hold short line. - Taxi to Parking. Talk to Ground after you clear the runway. - Fly the Pattern. Talk to Tower around the circuit. WHO IT IS FOR - Student pilots before their first solo, who freeze when the mic goes live - Student pilots getting ready for a checkride - Anyone starting from nothing who wants to understand what all the talking means - Licensed pilots who are rusty and want to sound current again Say it as many times as you want. The controller never gets impatient, never gets busy, and never charges you for the hour. SUBSCRIPTION ATC Ready is a subscription. The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial.
