About

Your starter has a rhythm. Sourdough Diary learns it. Log a feeding and the app predicts when that jar will peak, from its own history, your feeding ratio and the temperature of your kitchen. Tell it when it really peaked, and the next prediction is closer. It learns your jar, not an average one. SAY WHEN YOU WANT BREAD The planner works backwards from the oven. It says when to feed your starter and what to weigh for that feed, when to mix and when to shape, and keeps the hands-on parts inside the hours you're awake. Swipe through the plan day by day, and it reminds you when it's time. EVERY STAGE, TIMED One clock for each step, with what to do and your own grams. Bulk is one clock with the folds inside it, and if the kitchen warms up, the time left is worked out again. Timers ring, show on the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island, and keep the screen awake while your hands are in the dough. On an iPad the clock is big enough to read across the kitchen. LOG IT WITH FLOURY HANDS Tell Siri you fed your starter. Tap Fed on a widget, in Control Center or on your Apple Watch. Take the next step of a bake without touching the screen. EVERY LOAF TEACHES THE NEXT Rate a loaf and answer three questions about spring, crumb and spread. The diary reads them against the bake's own log and says what most likely happened, and the one thing to change. Bake it again with that change already filled in. EVERY LOAF, WRITTEN DOWN Each finished loaf is pinned up as a polaroid on your Pinnwand, with the crumb shot on the back. Your year is a calendar of every feeding and loaf, with streaks, badges and a challenge each month. When Stats says something about your baking, it has checked first that the pattern isn't chance. A STARTER WITH A NAME Dress the jar in a bobble hat or a bow tie. Tap it and it answers back. Read the dry little diary it keeps, and on Sunday evening it writes you a letter about its week. Keep two, and they have opinions about each other. A STARTER HAS A FAMILY Give some away and the new jar joins the family tree, seen only by that family. A care card goes with it, with your own feeding ratio and timing. NEW TO SOURDOUGH? Starter School walks you from flour and water to a living starter, one day at a time, including the day it goes quiet and most people give up. The Library explains why dough does what it does in eighty-four short pieces, and opens at the right one when a loaf goes wrong. MADAME CRUMB WILL SEE YOU NOW Add a photo of the crumb and step into her tent. She deals the cards, turns one over and tells your loaf's fortune. Collect all twelve, or switch her off in Settings if she isn't for you. YOUR DIARY STAYS YOURS It lives on your devices and in your own iCloud, and syncs between iPhone and iPad. Keep a backup file if you like. In English and German.Read more
