About
Mathematicians proved that every repeating flat pattern belongs to exactly one of 17 symmetry groups. Symmetry Hunter turns your camera into the instrument that identifies them — and the world into the game board. POINT. Photograph a tiled floor, a brick wall, a quilt, a fence. Shot at an angle? Tap four corners of one tile, or let Auto straighten it for you. READ. The app draws the hidden structure on your photo: rotation centers as dots, mirror lines solid, glide reflections dashed. The annotated photo is your trophy. COLLECT. Fill all 17 wallpaper-group slots. Rarity is real, not designed: p4m is every checkered floor, but pg — glide reflections and nothing else — is a genuine field find. Strips (friezes) and medallions (rosettes) have their own shelves. LEARN. Flip any find between “colors” and “structure” view and watch the group change — a checkerboard is one group if you count the colors and another if you don’t. Honest by design: if a pattern isn’t truly periodic — a patchwork, a randomized design, even a Penrose tiling — Symmetry Hunter says so, and tells you why. (A Penrose tiling will, however, proudly report its five-fold rosette.) All analysis runs on your device. No account, no ads, no tracking.Read more
