About
J-Camera is an inspection tool, not a general-purpose camera. It is built for one job: looking closely at small things — a solder joint, a hairline scratch, a serial number, a fabric weave — with the torch on and real control over focus. SPLIT-IMAGE FOCUS A circle sits in the centre of the frame. Inside it, the live image runs through an edge-enhancement formula and is shown as four quadrants at four different strengths. Bright scenes need a gentle setting; dim ones need a strong one — instead of guessing, you see all four side by side and pick the one that reveals detail. Press and hold to cycle through five formulas. FREQUENCY HISTOGRAM A logarithmic frequency plot, not a brightness histogram. When the right-hand side stays high, fine detail is still present — which is what "in focus" actually means. It is the difference between believing you are sharp and knowing it. FOCUS YOU CAN DRIVE Tap anywhere to move the focus point. Switch to manual and drive the lens by hand. The focus ring is grey while the lens is moving and red once focus is locked — no text to read, just a colour. READOUTS THAT STAY READABLE Shutter, ISO, zoom and focus are drawn as the inverse of whatever is behind them, measured live. On a blown-out white surface the text turns black; on a dark one it turns white. Nothing is dimmed to make room for it. MANUAL CONTROL Shutter, ISO, colour temperature, tint, focus distance, zoom and exposure compensation. Each control shows whether it is on Auto or being held. Anything the current lens cannot do is greyed out rather than failing silently. PORTRAIT DEPTH On devices with more than one rear camera, portrait mode measures depth and simulates a shallow depth of field, with a live aperture slider. Two windows show the depth map and the blur mask actually being applied — you can see what the machine measured, not just the result. Each shot saves two photos: one with the original pixels and the depth map, which the Photos app can re-edit with its own aperture slider, and one with the blur already applied. LiDAR CALIBRATION On models with a LiDAR scanner, record a few reference distances and the focus-distance readout becomes real units instead of an estimate. Five languages. No account, no sign-in, no data leaves your device. J-Camera is free and supported by occasional full-screen ads shown after a photo is saved — never while you are framing or focusing. Ads are non-personalised; the app does not ask for tracking permission.Read more

SPLIT-IMAGE FOCUS
A circle sits in the centre of the frame.
FREQUENCY HISTOGRAM
A logarithmic frequency plot, not a brightness histogram. When the right-hand side stays high, fine detail is still present — which is what "in focus" actually means. It is the difference between believing you are sharp and knowing it.
FOCUS YOU CAN DRIVE
Tap anywhere to move the focus point. Switch to manual and drive the lens by hand. The focus ring is grey while the lens is moving and red once focus is locked — no text to read, just a colour.
READOUTS THAT STAY READABLE
Shutter, ISO, zoom and focus are drawn as the inverse of whatever is behind them, measured live. On a blown-out white surface the text turns black; on a dark one it turns white. Nothing is dimmed to make room for it.
MANUAL CONTROL
Shutter, ISO, colour temperature, tint, focus distance, zoom and exposure compensation. Each control shows whether it is on Auto or being held. Anything the current lens cannot do is greyed out rather than failing silently.
PORTRAIT DEPTH
On devices with more than one rear camera, portrait mode measures depth and simulates a shallow depth of field, with a live aperture slider. Two windows show the depth map and the blur mask actually being applied — you can see what the machine measured, not just the result. Each shot saves two photos: one with the original pixels and the depth map, which the Photos app can re-edit with its own aperture slider, and one with the blur already applied.
LiDAR CALIBRATION
On models with a LiDAR scanner, record a few reference distances and the focus-distance readout becomes real units instead of an estimate.
