About

Dawn is a symbol-based AAC app (augmentative and alternative communication) for people who cannot rely on speech: autistic children and adults, people with apraxia, aphasia, cerebral palsy, ALS, or a recovering voice after a stroke or surgery. Tap symbols, build a sentence, and Dawn speaks it aloud in a natural, modern voice. Everything runs on the device. No account, no internet, no data collected. A VOICE OF YOUR OWN: Record about eight seconds of speech and Dawn builds a personal voice, right on the device, in about half a minute. It can be the user's own voice, preserved while speech is still available, or a family member's. The recording never leaves the device. VOICE STUDIO: Over 900 natural neural voices across ages and accents, including children's voices. Shape any voice by pitch and age, or hand Dawn a recording and it surfaces the voices nearest to it. One take is enough, even a shaky or noisy one. BUILT TO BE FAST: The whole engine lives on the phone, so a tapped sentence starts speaking immediately, in an elevator, on a plane, in a school with no Wi-Fi. Speed matters in a conversation, and Dawn treats it as a feature. EVERYTHING A FULL AAC APP SHOULD HAVE 3,400+ symbols (the complete Mulberry set), plus personal photos as symbols Six grid sizes in two families (3x4, 4x6, 5x7 and 6x8, 8x10, 10x12): a word keeps its place on the board until you move it, and going up a size within a family keeps every home word in its cell Word forms and sentence starters that keep grammar one tap away Switch access: row, column or block scanning, step or auto at any speed, switch timing, an adjustable highlight; iOS Switch Control, eye tracking and dwell work with every button Typing view with word prediction and the same instant voice Message banking: record whole phrases and play them back exactly as said A whiteboard with six pens that can speak what is written on it Open Board Format import from other AAC systems One-tap full backups, kept in your own files Caregiver gate, VoiceOver support, Dynamic Type, hold-to-activate timing, and an easier-reading option PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE: Dawn has no server and no sign-in. Messages, recordings, voices, boards, and photos stay on the device. The App Privacy label says "Data Not Collected" because there is nothing to collect it with. ONE APP, BOTH DEVICES: One subscription covers iPhone and iPad. The backup device in a parent's pocket can be the primary in a pinch. Dawn is a yearly subscription with a free trial, billed through the App Store. Privacy policy: https://dawnaac.com/privacy.
