Braggsight: XRD Workbench

Braggsight is an offline powder X-ray diffraction evidence workbench for iPhone and iPad. Preserve an imported profile, make processing choices explicit, review peak-fit evidence, compare frozen revisions, and hand off the files needed to reproduce or challenge a result. CASEBOOK AND IMPORT LEDGER - Keep separate studies with specimen, operator, instrument, preparation, notes, findings, and review disposition - Import CSV, TSV, XY, XYE, and two-column text profiles through Apple's file picker - Preserve the original source bytes, filename, encoding, row decisions, duplicate policy, acquisition order, step statistics, and SHA-256 fingerprint - Migrate existing Braggsight 1.0 records into immutable workbench studies without deleting the original local document VERSIONED PROCESSING - Build named processing recipes for smoothing, background treatment, normalization, angular correction, wavelength, and peak thresholds - Apply a recipe as a new frozen revision instead of overwriting an earlier result - Compare observed, corrected, and normalized traces on a touch-controlled Pattern Canvas - Inspect the processing range and numerical evidence alongside the chart PEAK LAB - Review automatic peak candidates and bounded local fit windows - Inspect peak center, d-spacing, FWHM, area, fit quality, residual metrics, and the number of points used - Record user notes and inclusion decisions with the frozen revision - Show instrument-corrected broadening only when the available evidence supports it STANDARDS AND REFERENCES - Fit multi-line position correction from user-entered standard observations when enough distinct lines are available - Model angle-dependent instrument width when the observations support it - Maintain user-owned reference peak lists - See matched, missing, and unexplained lines in a transparent correspondence table Reference correspondence is not phase identification. Braggsight does not perform Rietveld refinement, quantify phases, control an instrument, read proprietary detector formats, certify calibration or material identity, validate a laboratory method, or replace a qualified diffraction scientist. SERIES AND HANDOFF - Compare frozen revisions and trend peak position, width, and area across repeat runs - Record findings and reviewer disposition in the casebook - Build a checksummed evidence package containing the preserved source, raw and processed CSV data, peak fits, reference correspondence, series data, processing recipe, import ledger, findings, PDF report, JSON manifest, and SHA-256 checksum list Braggsight works without an account or required network connection. It has no subscription, in-app purchase, advertising, analytics, tracking, or developer-operated cloud service. Files leave the device only after you choose a destination with Apple's share sheet. NIST and IUCr method links open only when selected.
